Immediate Dentures: A denture (complete or partial) is considered to be an immediate denture any time extractions are performed, including a single tooth. This is considered to be a temporary
denture to wear while your gum tissue and bone is remodeling for approximately 6-8 weeks; after which a reline or new denture may be needed depending on which package was purchased. Impressions
are taken prior to any extractions and the teeth to be extracted are removed from the casts in the lab for the fabrication of the denture. Therefore, there is some minor guesswork involved,
all-be-it calculated. It should be known that the more extractions involved (especially full mouth), the greater the estimations involved.
Try-in: For the best fitting and best functional denture, a try-in should be considered. This involves an extra step and, occasionally, an extra day with multiple try-ins. This involves
trying in the denture into your mouth while the teeth are still in wax. This way, any adjustments can be made before the denture is processes and complete. This is performed in the late
morning or afternoon and the completed denture is then delivered at the end of the day or first thing the following morning. This should be highly considered if you are concern with cosmetics.
Cast Metal Partial: A cast metal partial involves a metal framework (not visible) to allow for added strength and function. This type of partial takes approximately two weeks and involves
additional appointments and possible minor tooth preparations for best functionality. This type of partial utilizes your remaining teeth as anchors which will take the biting forces much
more like your natural teeth. This should be considered if you wish to have a more permanent, sturdy partial denture that is more functional for chewing like natural teeth. Since the
chewing forces are distributed through your teeth rather than your gums, this type of partial most closely simulates normal chewing.
Flexi Partial: This is made with a flexible material that is unbreakable through routine uses or handling, including dropping. This type of partial has the esthetic type clasp (gum color)
for a much more cosmetic appearance, and is super light in weight. This type of partial is the thinnest possible. This is a key feature that allows for more room for your tongue to feel
much less constricted and you speech to sound the best. There is no metal involved. This denture must be processed elsewhere and takes approximately one to two weeks; no extra appointments
needed. This should be considered if you break partials often and wish for a super lightweight and thin partial.
Denture Reline: This is a process for a poorly fitting denture that you already have. This is accomplished by adding new material to the denture to match your mouth as it exists today.
This is done after your gums and bone have changed after extractions (approximately 3-4 months) or normal changes of bone over years. This should be considered if your existing denture
is in good shape (teeth are not worn) other than the fit. This only affects the tissue (gum) side of a denture and will not correct bite discrepancies nor tooth alignments.
X-Rays: Radiographs are taken on every patient with teeth. This is done so that the doctor can see any abnormalities of teeth to be extracted, or any abnormalities or diseases in all
patients. This is a highly diagnostic tool and needed to provide the best care for you. For patients without teeth it is recommended periodically to have a panorex (whole mouth)
radiograph to evaluate for any bone abnormalities, lesions or tumors. Many cancers of the body may show up in jaw bones first, or may metastasize to jaw bones later.
Extractions: Two general prices are noted as follows. Single, simple extractions for denture patients- this is routine simple extractions prior to immediate dentures. Walk-ins or
extractions only- this is simple extractions for people only desiring pulling teeth without getting a denture or partial. This slightly higher fee is to account for lack of additional
services to follow. This fee is still extremely low compared to an Oral Surgeon or general dentist but cannot be offered at the low fee accompanied with dentures or partials.
Complicated (with or without dentures/partials) extraction fees are subject to the doctors discretion based on the difficulty of removing the teeth due to extensive cavities, bone
impaction, prior root canal, or surgical approach required. The doctor or staff will explain this to you if it applies. This may not be readily obvious prior to the surgery. Any
additional fee can be settled after the surgery.
Premium Teeth: This involves using stronger and more cosmetic denture teeth. The premium teeth are a 3-ply acrylic (regular denture teeth are single ply) which allows for a much more
life-like appearance. This allows for the teeth to show the natural transition of layers, much the same as natural teeth, which affects the way light reflects to appear normal. This
is in all packages except economy packages. This should be highly considered if you are concerned with the appearance and life-like look of your dentures. For the most natural look
like your natural teeth, combine this with the wax try-in.
Esthetic Clasp: This is a flexible acrylic clasp for partial dentures (flexi or cast metal). This is to replace the metal clasp on partial dentures for a more cosmetic look. The
clasp is the similar to natural gum color and conforms better to your teeth. This gives a slightly less rigid hold than metal clasps. This should be consider for a more cosmetic,
metal free clasps partial denture.
Gum Shade: This is the color of the denture material. This is a way to more closely match your natural gum color of the denture material. The staff will assist in matching your
gum color best.
